TEXAS!

Chad and I have been considering moving our family and the business to Texas and so last weekend we hopped on a plane to check it out. We were able to stay with our friends, the Birds, who moved from Fullerton to Cypress, TX which is just north of Houston. I can't believe how much we loved it and how different it was from what I had expected. Everything is so green, the whole area is a thick forest. Maybe because it rains 5o inches a year? Most people are transplants and many are from California. The places we looked were full of young families and that is at the top of our list when it comes to choosing a place to live. So who knows, maybe we will call be calling Houston home in the near future.

We took Della with us and she was an absolute dream. This is what she did most of the time...
Della loved hanging out with "the girls." (L-R) Cameron, Della, and Kaden.

Here is Della entertaining herself at the airport...

I will post more Texas pics later. These next two pictures are a little out of place. But they were so cute! Archer and Della on the "diaper train"...

That's so great that you would know someone already! Good luck and I hope it all works out.

Houston?! What happened to Utah...not that it matters, I guess. We'll still be in CA.

Actually Houston is pretty rad. It's also the third largest US city (Chicago's 4th), so you won't be at a loss for good food and culture either (although you will have the humidity...yuck). AND awhen we come visist we could stay at Modern B&B (check it out at www.modernbb.com), which - by itself - almost warrants a vacation to the Lone Star state. How exciting! Keep us posted...

Hi Caitlin, I just saw your grandma at Enrichment and she said you guys were thinking of moving to Texas. Hope everything works out as far as selling your house and getting a place there. P.S. I can't believe how much Della looks like Archer.

We lived within 10 minutes of the Houston temple for five years. My hubby was the groundskeeper there. Our first stake was actually the Cypress stake. Summer is hot, but everyone has AC. It was only bad for people like us who are pretty much outdoor fanatics and love the mountains. The outside work all day every day in the heat took its toll on my husband, but he took a lot of joy from the sheer amount of stuff that will grow down there.

Just watch for snakes in the garden. Water moccassins. Or cottonmouths. Or coral snakes. Nasty.

PS The cost of living is great and Houston has translplants from all over. If you are looking for young families there is a ward called Parkway on the Northwest side in the Klein stake that is a little slice of Mormon heaven. But I'm biased.
